Flathead Irrigation District
Special Meeting,
February 14, 2020
All the FID Commissioners were present.
In February 2020 Paul Guenzler was invited to attend a meeting in Hot Springs that was called by an irrigator in the Camas Area. The irrigator on his own decided to have a meeting and invite Krista Lee Evans come in and speak to some irrigators. When the meeting was set up, Paul was invited and accepted the invitation. Following the meeting Paul thought it was important to see if Mission and Jocko would be interested in coming to a meeting to work on a CME involving all three districts.
Paul called David Lake and they felt it was important to have the meeting on February 14th. (The same date Krista was going back to Hot Springs). Janette Rosman was called to help set up the meeting. She also agreed with the decision.
Representing Mission at Special meeting were Ray Swenson, Tim Orr and Gene Posivio. Boone Cole was the only commissioner representing Jocko. Representing Flathead were Paul Guenzler, David Lake, Dave Vincent, Bruce White and Janette Rosman.
Krista Lee Evans spoke about having the irrigators interest represented in Senate bill 3019 providing the Districts can work together and form a CME or some type of irrigator participation in managing the Project.
Following the meeting in Ronan she then went back to Hot Springs.
There was a fair amount of public comment. Mission and Jocko commissioners wanted to present the discussion to their irrigators and remaining board members before making a decision. Flathead District commissioners had made a decision several months ago to work with the Tribe in forming a CME.
Krista stated there was some urgency to get everyone together and come to an agreement on how they were going to move forward.
